Our Story

We love being active, having fun and going on adventures. We can't can't wait to start a family to share our fun and adventures with our kids.

We met 10 years ago the night before New Year's Eve 2011. Ciara had just moved to town 6 months prior and her friend was visiting her. The two ladies went out to dinner and afterwards stopped in a nearby bar for a drink and to use the restroom. Happel was in the bar with a small group of friends. A stranger to Ciara approached her and started hitting on her. She felt uncomfortable and sought out the nearest person, as her friend was already in the restroom. Happel was the first person she saw. She put her hand on his shoulder and said, “Please help me, please pretend to be my boyfriend” and he did, he is now her forever boyfriend 10 years later.

We dated for two years before getting engaged and married a year later. During that time, we played softball, went surfing, traveled, biked, played tennis and most of all loved our dogs. We talked about adoption while dating as we each had close friends growing up who were adopted. We married in the summer of 2015, moved into a house in 2017 and shortly after started trying for a family. We are so excited to fill our home with children’s voices and more laughter.

Ciara is the most hard-working caregiver you will ever meet. She loves being outdoors and playing tennis whenever she can. Ciara is a family favorite; our niece and young cousins can’t get enough of her time. People, old and young, seek Ciara out for advice and trust her judgment on all things. The most amazing thing about Ciara is her ability to make everything, including chores, fun. I feel lucky to have met her and can’t imagine life without her. Ciara is meant to be a mother and she will spend her life teaching our child how to be a wonderful and happy person.

Meet Happel

Happel is the nicest, most handsome, fun man I know, that's why I married him! He loves his friends and family. He has friends from kindergarten and can still remember stories from then. He loves animals, especially dogs. He likes to have fun by playing games like ping-pong, basketball, baseball, half-rubber ball, surfing and tennis. He loves being on teams and working together. He is a lawyer who became one to help people. He loves watching movies of any kind and sending funny videos to friends. I remember when we were dating, thinking “gosh, he will be the best dad one day!”.
